History - Time Line

1981

Founded on September 4, 1981 by Norman and Karen Sutter, Norka Company began as a small contract paper converter located in Appleton Wisconsin, in the heart of “Paper Valley”. The corporate name, Norka, was created as a combination of the founders first names.

1986

Norka obtained a contract with United Airlines to produce printed paper tray mats for all in-flight meals. If you flew on a United Airlines flight between 1986 and 1990 and were served an in-flight meal, you had a Norka produced product on your tray.

1989

Norka purchased the current building and began a series of remodeling and upgrading projects.

1991

The first integrated computer system was installed.

1992

Norka acquired Valley Press Incorporated. Valley Press was a well-known commercial printing company located in Neenah Wisconsin. All the equipment and 30 employees were transitioned to Norka Company.

1995

Norka becomes a full service provider of paperboard packaging by adding offset printing, die cutting, and folding/gluing capabilities.

1999

A 40,000 square foot addition was constructed and a high speed sheeter was purchased.

2000

Construction of the present office complex was completed.

New computer and telecommunications systems were installed and networked.

Three offset printing presses were installed.

2004

Norka installed computer to plate

2005

A second high speed sheeter and a new Signature folder gluer were purchased.norka-logos-old-vs-new

2007

Norka purchased and installed structural design hardware and software as well as a CAD sample cutting table.

2008 (New ownership)

Norka joined the VisualPak Companies.

2009

A new logo was created, various plant improvements and upgrades were implemented in 2009.

2010

An offline coater was installed to cater to blister demands.

2011

An additional Heidelberg offset press, Bobst folder gluer, and Bobst die cutter with blanker were installed.

2013

Installed an ERP system which is fully integrated with Visual Pak, an additional cut-size sheeter and a new plant wide waste management system were also installed.

2014

Norka installed an additional Bobst die cutter.

Adjacent property was purchased for future facility expansion.
